Topic: Handling S/MIME & Certificates

Hi,

I just loaded FireGPG yesterday and love it so far in testing. I am also looking at the use of certificates and S/MIME because some highly used email clients work with them while failing to support pgp in any form.

What are your plans for extending FireGPG to support S/MIME using the certificates that Firefox has stored, for signing & encrypting, for both message body and attachments?

I realize this might be a big item - but I am only asking and this is the 'Requests' forum!

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

There already is an s/mime add-on:

Any news on this? It sounds promising...

Re: Handling S/MIME & Certificates

As there already exist an addon, this is not a good idea to 'steal' their work and implement it into FireGPG wink.

But maybe we cann discute with them and merge...

Sure, the idea would not be to steal from them, but rather to merge. Anyways stealing would be a bad idea in practical terms, since you would have to maintain their code!!
