I should add that encryption and signing via the clipboard with Windows Privacy Tray works OK.

I have problems with encryption in gmail.
I use
FireGPG Version 0.3.3
GnuPG v1.2.1 (MingW32)
When I click "Crypt" it lists keys to select, and after I have chosen one and clicked "OK" the error message:
"Encryption failed. Unknown error." appears.
I got same behaviour with all previous versions of FireGPG I tried.
Signing works OK.
