Topic: How to sign and add the signature as file?

Hello

I use Firefox 3.0.3, FireGPG 0.5.2 with openSUSE 11.0 and google mail.

I like to sign a mail and attach the signature as mail. Some people, not familiar with gpg are bothered when I send an inline signature.
There is an option "unterschreiben" (in German) = sign when I use this the original Text is deleted and the siganature is inserted. This is strange. Where is the mail text???

My goal is to attach the signature as file to the mail.

Hope someone can help me to understand how to do this?

Thanks a lot
Michael

Hi,

Thanks for the message,

any rough shedul? Time to wait or should I search for an alternative?
Besides: what is the difference between "Klartextsignatur" (cleartext signature) and "unterschreiben" (sign).

I see the difference:
"Klartextsignatur" (cleartext signature) results in a mail with signature and original text all in the mailbody.

"unterschreiben" (sign) results in a signatur BUT the original text is gone. --Does this make sense??
Or is this just the first step of the unfinished implementation?

Thanks a lot
Michael

"Does this make sense??"

Yes, it's a way of gnupg to sign data (you have to use the decrypt action before read it).

"Time to wait or should I search for an alternative?"

There is no alternatives (for gnupg encryption/signatures) so... wink The best is to make a patch ^^

so the option sign and decrypt result both in a mail with the reciever needs to encrypt??
My understanding of a signed message is that I get a unique signare and the original clearly readable text, the signature only ensures that the message is not manipulated....

My coding times are back on the mainframes, probably not the correct skillset..

Yes, but some users request this feature, as it's a gnupg's feature so wink

Re: How to sign and add the signature as file?

Hello,

to avoid missunderstandings: I will patiently wait until this great tool will also be able to ATTACH a signature an keep the mail as is.

I like to use this option since I sometimes don't know the if the receiver knows how to deal with gpg.....

Thanks a lot
Michael

Re: How to sign and add the signature as file?

Hello,

As we fix (next release - 18.10) the #1 problem, the #1 problem is not this feature so... wink
