Topic: New to FireGPG, can't send signed and encrypted mail

Hi (again),

So I am (steel) new to FireGPG (and GPG too).

I try to send a signed and encrypted mail...
I click the signed icon that become colored, then click the encrypt icon (that become colored) and push send.
I've got a popup and choose my signature.
Then a message appear say that FireGPG is sending my mail...
The message disapprear and nothing appends, my mail is stuck in the drafts...

Any clue ?

Thanks
Benoit

Re: New to FireGPG, can't send signed and encrypted mail

Not this one, but any another related to FireGPG ?

Re: New to FireGPG, can't send signed and encrypted mail

Sorry I've edited my previous post with new one

Re: New to FireGPG, can't send signed and encrypted mail

Hahaha, debuggin system is bugged wink

It's a problematric error, there was an error, but fireGPG didn't know witch error..

Can you send mail by smtp to gmail with eg. thinderbird ?

Re: New to FireGPG, can't send signed and encrypted mail

Ok, I have give it a try and nop, I cannot send email via smtp.gmail with my thunderbird.
So, for what I've understand, FireGPG use it's own smtp call and not use the gmail web based send server ?
I'm at work so it's certainly an IT restriction.
Maybe I can give a try by using the exchange server to send my mail, but maybe tricky (and even not your problem wink )

Thanks !

Re: New to FireGPG, can't send signed and encrypted mail

Yep, use options of FireGPG to use your internal smtp server, ask your adminitrator, and it's should works wink

Re: New to FireGPG, can't send signed and encrypted mail

Mmm not sure, I'm in sort of very big company but I'll give a try thanks !
(I assume my other problem is not related to this one...)

Re: New to FireGPG, can't send signed and encrypted mail

Yep, about your another problem it's works for me... (I have an error about private key not found, but it's what I want...)

Re: New to FireGPG, can't send signed and encrypted mail

Ok, so it's clear that I miss something, FireGPG also say that the private key is missing, but I just have a hexadecimal code that the guy send in a non crypted mail and I don't know of to get the key with this code...

Re: New to FireGPG, can't send signed and encrypted mail

I don't understand wink

Re: New to FireGPG, can't send signed and encrypted mail

Mmm ok, so I'll try to summarize smile

I have this encrypted email and firegpg say that he cannot decrypt with this prompt error :
Decryption failed. Unknown error.
[GNUPG:] ENC_TO 7F5D71CFE071E2FE 16 0
[GNUPG:] ENC_TO 76D2D1853BEE56CB 16 0
[GNUPG:] BEGIN_DECRYPTION
[GNUPG:] DECRYPTION_FAILED
gpg: decryption failed: secret key not available
[GNUPG:] END_DECRYPTION

So I guess this is because I don't have the sender key in my key manager.

But

The sender just give me an hexadecimal code for his key and I cannot find how to add this key so FireGPG will decrypt the message using it.

Re: New to FireGPG, can't send signed and encrypted mail

No, to decrypt you need a PRIVATE key, and YOU should have generated this key.

Contact the sender of the mail, he probably did a mistake...

Re: New to FireGPG, can't send signed and encrypted mail

OK it seems that I've just created a public key but not a private...

Re: New to FireGPG, can't send signed and encrypted mail

I've checked, my ket has both private and public... I don't get what the problem is...

Re: New to FireGPG, can't send signed and encrypted mail

You corespondant has to use your public key to send you a mail.

Please read the basic of gnupg on google or anywhere wink
