Topic: Unable to verify a message

Hello,

I already discuss about this problem by mail, but still have some errors (maybe the bug is just me ...). But, this continue. So FireGPG can't identify a signed message in Gmail view (with the right-click button) but it is working when I do that with the "Show Original" link.

I waited for an upgrade but I can't see changes. So if you have a solution.

My configuration is :
FireGPG 0.3.1
Firefox 2.0
WinPT 0.7.96rc1
gpg 1.2.1

Sincerely yours,

Brownie

Re: Unable to verify a message

i believe some of the verification issues are related to word wrapping.  it seems as though gmail actually adds newlines to the text.

Re: Unable to verify a message

I sent a message this morning to a mailing list using Thunderbird and Enigmail. Thunderbird recognized the signature as being valid but FireGPG did not on both a Windows and Linux machine. I just tried the "Show Original" trick and it will validate that way.

I am using

Windows XP:
    Firefox 2.0.0.3
    FireGPG 0.3.3
    GPG4Win 1.0.9

Ubuntu Feisty 7.04:
    Firefox 2.0.0.3
    FireGPG 0.3.3
    GnuPG 1.4.6

I just did a test with GMail -- this is a diff between the signed selection, and what gmail shows as the sent message when I hit Show Original. (I piped it thru cat -A, so it's easier to see the end-of-line)

There is an issue with quoted messages where GMail truncates ">space" to just ">", which will of course show as tampering with the signature.

Re: Unable to verify a message

Still not working but I continued the tests.

From thunderbird, I sent a crypted but not signed mail : It works, FireGPG can decrypt it with appropriate button, "but", I cannot decrypt it in the "Show Original" window.

But, if I send a clear but signed message, FireGPG cannot verify the signature, but in the "Show Original" view, a right click on the selection permit to verfy everything.

Very very odd,

if you want to test it in real, we can communicate by gtalk, or msn

Re: Unable to verify a message

I start to find a solution !!! Maybe the encoding of the message. I tried to send a message from thunderbird with UTF8 encoding : it works ! So, it is a beginning of a solution !

Re: Unable to verify a message

Use rich text to preserve the string. See this thread.
